Holy Trinity Music School in Haiti

Husband and wife, Tony Chuang (tcfish.blogspot.com) and Esther Shin (www.EstherShin.com, Facebook.com/pianistesthershin), visited the Holy Trinity Music School in Haiti in 2013 to encourage the children with words and music. It was exciting to meet so many children learning, loving, and appreciating classical music. They were eager to play and sing for us. Esther Shin shared with them her story and a mini concert of classical music, hymns (like the one in this video) and Christmas music. Tony Chuang encouraged the kids, telling them to keep practicing hard and to worship God with music. He said, "When we see a pianist play, we don't say, 'wow, what a great piano,' but instead, 'wow, what a great pianist.' So when we live for God and make music, let others not see us (the instrument), but let them see God (the musician and orchestrator of our lives). That is what it means to be God's instrument." There were so many students who wanted to learn music in Haiti, but they said there are not enough people to teach them. There were schools that had instruments (by donation) but no teachers, so there are brass and wind instruments that has been just sitting in the closet for few years now. There is a need in Haiti for more music teachers. There is a need for more musicians and music teachers around the world. If you are interested in going to Haiti for even a short time (a week/month) to teach kids and musicians, contact us! This video is a tribute to Ann Schein (www.AnnSchein.com), a long-time mentor of Esther Shin who visited the school a few decades ago and shared music in Haiti.
